Kerr-Tar Regional Transportation Planning Organization (KTRPO)

Rural Regional Transportation Planning Organizations (RPOs):

  • Mandated under a state law passed in July 2000 and implemented in 2002
  • Required the establishment of RPOs to work cooperatively with the state to plan rural regional transportation
  • Advise the Department of Transportation on rural transportation policy (Senate Bill 1195, Article 17, General Statute 136-210 through 213)
  • Over 4 million North Carolinians are served by 19 RPOs

The Kerr-Tar RPO facilitates regional transportations planning and public engagement for the following five counties:  Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance, and Warren.

Committees:

  • KTRPO is comprised of two committees
    • Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC):  consists of local elected officials and a NC Board of Transportation member
      • Establishes goals, priorities, and objectives of the RPO, rewviews and recommends changes to comprehensive transportation plans, reviews, and approves an annual plan of work
      • Reviews and prioritizes transportation improvment projects for submission to the NCDOT
    • Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC):  consists of staff members from local government members, agencies, and NCDOT
      • Provide guidance and recommendations to the TAC

2021 Meeting Schedule for KTRPO TAC/TCC (tentative)

Until further notice, all meetings will be held via Zoom.  Meetings are held from 3:00-5:00 pm.  When in-person meetings resume, they will be held at the KTCOG Office, Vance County School Boardroom, 1724 Graham Avenue, Henderson, NC.  Zoom and call in options will remain available.
